RECYCLING
With all the focus that has been placed upon doing your bit to help the environment in recent years you're probably more than aware of the wonders of recycling. Most local councils have issues householders with recycling bins into which certain types of waste are to be placed so they can be sort appropriately and then reused. However, you can recycle so much more than just the items the council is willing to collect.
Next time you're having a clearout, think carefully about what could be recycled before throwing stuff away. Clothes are recyclable, and most amenity tips will have a bank for old clothes. You might find that if you have quite specific clothes that you no longer want then you might be able to sell them rather than throw them away. Wide fitting shoes for example are often sought after by people, so if you have some you no longer want why not try selling them! Wide fitting shoes are quite expensive to buy new so people who need them will probably be quite keen to take them off your hands. You could also donate any old clothes to a charity!
If you have a compost heap in your garden then you'll be able to recycle a lot of your food waste too! Vegetable peels and the like are perfectly material to go into your compost heap and with time it will break down in rich compost that you can use in your garden to grow more vegetables.
